1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Map Embeds handles information when you visit mapembeds.com or use its Google Maps embed generator. It does not govern websites where you later install generated code or the independent practices of Google and other third parties.
2. Information we collect
Map Embeds does not require an account. When you use the site, the following categories of information may be processed:
- Basic request and device data: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, requested pages, approximate location derived from IP, and dates and times of visits.
- Usage and conversion data: page views, traffic source, session information, button events such as copying embed code, and interactions used to understand and improve the service.
- Information you send us: the contents of messages and related contact details if you contact Map Embeds.
3. Map searches and generated code
Map Embeds does not intentionally save the place names, addresses, routes, or Street View locations you enter in the generator to its own application database. Your browser uses those details to build and load a Google Maps URL. Google receives the map request when the preview loads and may process it under the Google Privacy Policy.
If you publish generated code, visitors to your website will connect directly to Google when the embedded map loads. The generated snippet also contains an outbound attribution or partner link, as described in the Terms of Use. Websites reached through such links have their own privacy practices.
4. Analytics and measurement providers
Map Embeds currently uses third-party tools to measure traffic, understand site use, and record conversion events. Depending on the provider and your browser settings, these services may process IP addresses, device or browser details, page URLs, referrers, approximate location, interaction events, and cookies or similar identifiers.
- Plausible Analytics for aggregated site analytics;
- Google advertising and measurement services for conversion measurement;
- Ahrefs Analytics for traffic analytics; and
- Visitor Tracking for visitor, traffic, and conversion analytics.
These providers control their own technologies and retention practices. Review their policies for more information.
5. How information is used
Information may be used to operate and secure the site, generate and display map previews, understand traffic and feature use, measure advertising and conversion performance, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, respond to communications, comply with legal obligations, and improve the service.
7. Data retention
Map Embeds keeps information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, including security, operations, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. Analytics and map providers set their own retention periods under their respective policies.
8. Your privacy choices and rights
You can limit some collection by blocking third-party scripts or cookies in your browser, using privacy extensions, or adjusting your Google privacy and advertising settings. Blocking Google Maps may prevent map previews from working.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of personal information. You may also have the right to appeal a denied request or complain to a privacy regulator. To submit a request, contact us using the address below. We may need to verify your request.
9. Children’s privacy
Map Embeds is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so the issue can be reviewed.
10. Security and policy changes
Reasonable measures are used to protect information, but no internet service is completely secure. This policy may be updated as the service or legal requirements change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
